Sexual Dysfunction (Essay Sample) Content: Sexual DysfunctionStudents NameUniversity Affiliation Sexual DysfunctionIn this case, several issues are presented in relation to the sexual dysfunction matter as other primary issues need analysis before the main problem is handled. Each of the partners in this union is limited to his or her own independent life and is not communicating efficiently. Additionally, they are faced by the sexual issue, which is possibly caused by the initial problems facing the couple. Thus, the situation necessitates a mental examination of the DSM diagnosis class. After the diagnosis, it will be easier to assess the sexual dysfunction as opposed to approaching the issue as a sexual problem (Kafka, 2010). In the first place, both clients will have to undergo the analysis, and the diagnosis has to be based on their personalities as exhibited before the revelations. First off, it has been established that the clinical diagnosis (what necessitated treatment)is male sexual dysfunction. The couple can then be discussed on an individual basis. The female is confused, afraid, and rather disorganized. By following her conversation, one realizes that although the husband is having issues at work and home, she is unaware of activities in her life. She gets irritated quickly, and this is possibly because her husband is not paying her enough attention. The subject is not mentally retarded, as she is able to coordinate her thoughts to convey notions. She does not have any outstanding general medical conditions, and her environmental problems are limited to minor issues at home. In the general assessment of functioning, this client proves to be a stable individual since she manages her life in a normal way since she goes to her job as a nurse (75%). Although she is stressed due to the current life issues facing the family, her handling of the situation proves her state of mind. Although these conclusions can be made on the client, additional information would be necessary for a description that is more accurate. It is possible that she is under an anxiety disorder, or she is simply depressed from work. In addition, information on any recent health problems would be necessary to deduce any mental pressure. On the other hand, the male counterpart seems to have several issues in terms of his sexual status and abilities. The clinical diagnosis seems to be that he has erectile dysfunction, but he is seemingly able to have and sustain an erection when watching pornography. The mental state in this case can be referred to as a major depressive disorder in addition to an addiction to pornography (Wincze Carey, 2012). The reason for the MDD is the recurrent statements made regarding the success at work, but the truth is revealed eventually. The individual is also under fear of abandonment by is spouse, and possibly their children (Hopwood, Thomas, Markon , Wright Krueger, 2012). His addiction to pornography reduces his ability to live a fully functional life. It has placed him in depression, hypertension, and partial anxiety. The environmental problems that he is facing include the issues at work, family strife, and emotional instability. Although he seemingly lives a fully practical life, he is under constant pressure to perform at work. At home, he is still under pressure to perform sexually by his wife. Even though he is capable of getting an erection when watching pornography, the sexual tension between him and his wife does not permit him to perform. The individual does not have any mental retardation o noticeable in this analysis. The GAF (40%) shows that he is under a lot of pressure, and in his opinion, his life is not working for him, as he would have wanted it to (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The study of the client would be assisted by the provision of more information, especially in terms of one on one discus sion of life and general perspective. In this regard, the client should be offered a one on one session with a questioning analyst to collect any information on the individuals life. Firstly, information on the ...
